One important thing to remember, if you plan on attending one college prior to transfering to the institution you plan to graduate from (ex. junior college, etc.), be sure to find out how their credit for prior learning transfer policies may affect you. Some colleges will accept this credit during a transfer, others will not. Depending on how much credit you are eligible for, this might be a very important consideration in your online college search.

Linda,

Definitely keep credit for prior learning in mind if you head back to school. Prior to my transfer to Columbia College, Central Texas College awarded me 15 hours of college credit for life experience (portfolio credit, similar to Columbia's method). At Columbia, I will be using CLEP exams to test out of six hours of science later this year. So, that's a total of 21 hours of alternative credit... the equivalent to almost one full year of study! It also saved me about $2,000 in tuition and books.
