Online college accreditation

If you pursue an education online, you have the option of simply taking a few classes, or you can pursue an associates, bachelors, masters, or doctorate degree. Accreditation, however, is extremely important.  There are plenty of colleges out there who come up with fancy sounding names, but they are not accredited by one of the six regional accreditors. Without this accreditation, your college credits are pretty much worthless. Typically, your hours will not transfer, and if you were planning on attending grad school, you are out of luck.

If you are uncertain of your college’s accreditation, ask. Reputable colleges are proud of their accreditation and will be happy to disclose this information. You can also visit this link to see if your college is listed: regional accreditors.
